Comprehensive Hearing Assessments
Untreated hearing loss leads to additional damage to your hearing, emotional and cognitive issues, and can have profound effects on your overall health and wellness. Early detection of hearing loss allows your hearing instrument specialist an opportunity to prevent further damage and provides a broader range of treatment options.
In many cases, your hearing loss might not be serious enough to warrant advanced treatment options, but a professional, comprehensive evaluation conducted annually provides a baseline of your hearing capacity for future assessments. Identifying particular conditions during your assessment makes it possible for our professionals to suggest various preventive measures as well.
Preferred Hearing Centers provides a warm, caring, and worry-free atmosphere for our hearing assessments. We use an advanced patient-centered approach designed to create a more complete picture of your overall hearing capabilities as well as the best prevention and treatment options to fit your unique circumstances. Our multi-stage process includes a preliminary interview in which we identify:
- Situations and circumstances when you struggle with hearing
- Family history, medical history, and medications that could affect your hearing
- Lifestyle and occupational situations that can have damaging effects
We recommend that you bring a spouse or family member or friend to the consultation because they can provide us with additional important feedback related to the difficulties you are experiencing. This information is helpful in developing the best solution for your unique hearing needs. Your spouse, family member, or friend will also be used in the “familiar voice” section of the hearing test.

Your complimentary hearing assessment will include the use of our state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies to measure your ability to hear in quiet environments, noisy situations, and when multiple speakers are talking at the same time. In addition, we will be able to scientifically measure the size and shape of your ear canal and better understand how sounds are traveling through your ear to your auditory system including your brain’s ability to process sounds.
Results from your hearing evaluation are plotted onto an audiogram, which charts the softest sounds you can hear at various pitches and frequencies, helping us to produce an accurate prescription of what you can and cannot hear. We will discuss these results with you, and then present various treatment options, which may or may not include hearing aids, preventive measures, or other recommendations based on your needs and preferences.
Along with you, we will establish some specific goals and objectives in relation to what you would like to achieve on your journey to better hearing, mapping out a treatment timeline with complete clarity to meet those expectations.
